Spring Into New Life

We've all heard:
"The difference between try and triumph is a little 'umph'."
March is here, and you know what that means: spring is in the air! After the long, cold winter, we can finally feel the promise of new life, fresh starts, and warmer days. The earth is waking up, the days are getting longer, and we are presented with a beautiful reminder of God's capacity for renewal in our own lives.
It’s the perfect time to shake off the winter slump, step out of the darkness, and embrace the light – both physically and spiritually.
A New Season, A New Opportunity
Sometimes in our lives, we don't know where or how to start a new journey. The winter can leave us feeling a little... stagnant. We might have set New Year's resolutions with the best intentions, only to find our motivation has faded with the short days. That’s okay. God's mercies are new every morning, and so are our opportunities to start fresh.
The turning of the season is your reminder: this is your opportunity! Just as God brings forth beauty from barren ground, He desires for us to thrive, to be strong, and to move with purpose.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11
This promise extends to every area of our lives, including our health and well-being. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and taking care of them is an act of worship. It's about being strong and fit enough to function in this world and fulfill the unique call God has placed on our lives.
Breaking the Chains of "Someday"
We can often fall into the trap of saying, "I'll start tomorrow," or "I'll get healthy when..." We know what is right, but sometimes find it hard to do. The mental obstacles we put in place can be tougher than any physical workout.
Here's how we overcome those:
- Start with God: Lay down your assumptions and ask Jesus what pace He has for you this spring.
- Embrace Consistency, not Perfection: It's not about never missing a workout. It’s about returning faster. If you miss a day, start again the next, not next Monday.
- Find Joy in the Movement: Pair your habits with pleasure. Go for a walk outside, listen to some uplifting gospel music, and enjoy the beautiful world God created.
- Lean on His Strength: Remember that we "can do all things through him who strengthens us" (Philippians 4:13). His grace is sufficient, and His power is made perfect in our weakness.
